As a stay-at-home-mom it can be easy for your day to get away from you and to not accomplish everything you'd wanted to. It can also get a little mundane at times. For those reasons I wanted to share a little secret with you: scheduling out your day will do W-O-N-D-E-R-S. Seem a little excessive? I promise it's worth it.
I'm a major list maker so I start with a to-do list. Next, I think ahead and plan activities and outings for my kiddos (if I don't plan ahead when it comes to outings I find they don't happen). Then I go one step further and plan out when I am going to accomplish each item on my list. Be sure to be realistic with your time (because let's face it, getting things done with littles takes 5 zillion times longer than it would alone). I think it's also important to make plenty of time for cuddles, playing make-believe, and giving your kids your undivided attention. While cleaning, shopping, and paying the bills all need to get done, I truly believe that nothing will make your day feel more like a failure than if it's void of quality time. Here's the beauty of scheduling though--you can have the best of both worlds. Instead of going aimlessly through your day hoping to spend quality time with your babes while trying to get everything else done you can ensure that you do both. Now, I'm not suggesting that you your life has to feel rigid or that things will always go exactly as planned. I'm not saying your house will always be spotless. I'm not saying that you'll never have to save a to-do list item for another day. What I am saying is that you will be able to feel productive and enjoy your cute kiddos if you give your day a little consideration before it begins.
What do YOU do to stay productive? I'd love to hear in the comments below.
