Being a new mom is kind of a blur and haze of diapers, spit up, breastmilk stains, not to mention the puffy dark eyes and postpartum recovery. It's an absolutely beautiful time, but not pretty if you know what I mean. During this time, lots of people gave me some advice. They always said, "Just putting on a swipe of lipstick will make you feel so much better!" and guess what? They were right.
I noticed the days when I was able to have a shower, put on some makeup and get dressed, I really did feel so much better and more like myself because I was ready to take on the day. Now, there isn't always time for a shower and full date night makeup most days but I can usually find a few minutes to try and feel a little more put together by putting on some quick makeup.
So I want to share my 10 minute mom makeup tips with you today and some of my favorite products.
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I love the idea of a tinted moisturizer, it's quick, 2 steps in 1 and evens out the skin tone. This one gives you a nice glowy (but not shiny) finish, is oil-free and such a nice texture on my skin. It is a little pricey but I have had mine for over two years and still going.
Benefit Bo-ing Concealer. So the description on this concealer is "industrial strength concealer" and what better product for a new mom with eye bags for days?? I find this one really brightens my eyes and can cover ANYTHING. Someone once told me to apply with a brush, or if you do use your fingers use your ring finger and light pressure so you don't give yourself wrinkles later on.
Nars Blush. I'm a blush believer! I love adding some color to my face and this one is a favorite.
Bobbi Brown Highlighter. Just because you're not pregnant anymore, doesn't mean you can't still glow! I apply this on the most upper part of my cheek bones, and then a quick swipe on my t-zone.
NYC liquid eyeliner. I got this drugstore recommendation from one of my favorite beauty bloggers, The Beyouty Bureau, and I have been using it since. It is so cheap and although it takes a little training (keep your eye open while applying) to get the technique down, once you do, it is so quick and a surprisingly great formula.
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. K I think I buy a new mascara every time I run out. I have tried everything from drugstore to high end brands and this classic pink and green mascara is one I always come back to and layer over whatever I'm using at the time. I like how the little brush can get to the inner corners of your eyes and a quick swipe on the bottom lashes.
Benefit Gimme Brow. One of my favorite makeup products ever. Again, when there is little time you need products that are quick and easy. This product fills in the brows giving them color AND adds thickness and texture and I can shape and fill my blonde brows with this in 30 seconds.
Clinique Chubby Sticks. Sometimes a hard core matte lipstick might be too much for your day-to-day that is why I love these lip crayons. These Clinique ones are so moisturizing and easy to put on.
