Here's the deal: we all need a little help sometimes. And some of us, *raises hand*, need a lot of help. When you're staying at home, you're spending most of your time with your little ones and things get overwhelming, and busy, and too much to handle. It's times like that when you need a couple of lifesavers in your back pocket.
And no I'm not talking about the kind that has been sucked on and placed in your hand by an adorable toddler.
I'm talking about the kind that help you get through the day without cracking under the mama pressure. Here is a short list of things that help this SAHM make life a little easier on herself when things get stressful:
Delivery
So this is a lifesaver that I am fairly new to, but it is seriously a game changer: Delivery. We are mamas in a time when everything you need can be delivered to your door.
Groceries, dinner, prescriptions, clothes, a baby gate... All sent to your door. This is perfect for me when I'm having a rough day or at the end of a crazy week, like a teething infant, toddler tantrum, raging headache kind of day/week, and I need some serious help. If you're getting overwhelmed prepping dinner at the end of the night, think about investing in a delivery dinner service. If going to the grocery store with your littles makes you want to pull your hair out, order them online and have them delivered (some even come same day). And of course you can get all your essentials on Amazon like diapers, dish soap, and salted caramels in just a couple of days. Take advantage of delivery services to help you be the best mama to your babes!
Hidden Toys
If you're anything like me you are infuriated every time your toddler whines about having nothing to play with when your house is literally
covered with
toys.
Something I like to have in my back pocket when I've already played PJ Masks for 3 hours and need to feed the baby and sit down for a few minutes, is hidden toys. Once every couple of weeks, I will set aside a group of toys (set of trains, little figures, puzzles, etc.) that my son won't necessarily miss, but once you pull them out of a special child-locked cupboard, his eyes will light up like it's Christmas morning. This usually buys you a little time where they're playing with the "new" toys where you can take a quick breather, drink a Coke, and get ready for the next couple hours of mama life. This also works great with craft projects, dress up clothes, or even movies that you can pull out and make your little one excited about something
other than mama pretending to be Cat Boy. Please no more PJ Masks, I beg you.
Babysitter
As a mama who has a husband that works late nights, and is really only home on the weekends, I get burnt out. I get burnt out being with the kids solo from sun up to sun down, and will gladly kiss the feet of any single mama, because man it is hard.
There are days when I am emotionally, physically, and mentally tired from taking care of the kids and just need a little bit of time to remember who
I am. This is when a babysitter is your lifesaver. It's not just for date night, you feel me? Whether it's a friend you can call to drop off the kids or a trusty teen in your neighborhood, give them a call when you need a night to get a mani, head to the mall, or meet up with friends. It will save your sanity, and your kids will probably love seeing a face other than yours for a couple of hours. Don't feel guilty calling the sitter just for you, because the fact is you're going to be a better mama when you have a little time to be yourself and recharge!
As a SAHM, it is a must to have a few things that help you get through the tougher days. When you have a couple of lifesavers to pull out when you need them, you can keep from turning into the momster and keep your littles and YOU happy. XO
